Prepare for New Year Packaging Projects with Corrugated Basics

As preparation and planning for packaging projects in the New Year begin, we wanted to arm you and your team with information to help navigate what can sometimes be an overwhelming process. When factoring in the numerous box styles, board strengths, flute profiles and print options available, we understand it can be difficult to determine what package designs are ideal to securely fit & ship your products, while also showcasing your brand.

To get started, we are revisiting a few of our previous posts highlighting some important corrugated packaging basics.

Choosing the Right Box Style
In this piece we have broken down some of the most common corrugated box styles as well as uses for each.

RSC vs. Roll End Die Cut
Here you will find a comparison of two of the most commonly used corrugated containers, a Regular Slotted Carton (RSC) versus a Roll End Die Cut Tray.

Mullen Test vs. ECT
A Box Maker’s Certificate (BMC) is typically printed on the bottom of most corrugated boxes, containing a number which indicates the strength of the liner board, along with Edge Crush Test (ECT) or Mullen Burst Test. Knowing whether the board is ECT or Mullen tested allows you to know where the board’s strength is, and its primary function.

Subscription Box 101 Tips
